TP-Link Deco mesh systems work well on ASH NET fibre once the VLAN is set. Deco units we supply arrive pre-configured; for a Deco you bought elsewhere follow these steps.
- Install the TP-Link Deco app and sign in with a TP-Link ID.
- Tap + / Set up, choose your Deco model and follow the prompts to power it on. Do not connect it to the ONT yet.
- When asked for the internet connection type choose Dynamic IP.
- Finish the wizard (Wi-Fi name and password), then open More → Advanced → IPTV/VLAN.
- Enable it and select the ISP profile New Zealand UFB (this tags the connection with VLAN 10). Save.
- Connect the main Deco’s WAN port (either port on models with auto-sensing ports) to the ONT LAN port named in your activation email. Within a minute or two the Deco’s light turns solid and the app shows it online.
- Add satellite units through the app (+ Add Deco) and place them where the signal from the main unit is still good – roughly halfway to the area that needs coverage.
If the Deco shows “no internet” after set-up, check IPTV/VLAN is enabled with New Zealand UFB, that the connection type is Dynamic IP (not PPPoE), and that the cable is in the right ONT port. Then power the Deco off and on.
