The default Wi-Fi name (ASHNET_ and four digits) and password are printed on the label under your router. The password is case-sensitive and small – take a photo and zoom in. If the label has no password, scan the QR code on it, try ASHNET, or send us a photo of the label.
HX510 / VX230v – Aginet app
- Open the TP-Link Aginet app and log in to your router.
- Tap Wi-Fi (or Wireless), tap the network, and change the name (SSID) and password.
- Save. The router restarts its Wi-Fi and every device will need to reconnect with the new details.
Or in a browser at 192.168.0.1 (username admin) go to Wireless, change the name and password, and save.
TP-Link Deco
In the Deco app tap More → Wi-Fi Settings, edit the name and password, and save.
Tips
- Keep one name for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (band steering) unless you need to force a device onto one band – see Wi-Fi coverage and mesh.
- Use the guest network for visitors and smart-home gadgets so you never have to share your main password.
- Changing the Wi-Fi password is the fix if you think a neighbour is using your connection, or after a copyright notice.
