Secure VoIP Basic Edition app – set-up, favourites and transfers

The Secure VoIP Basic Edition is an alternative to the main Secure VoIP app. It supports encrypted (TLS) calling, video calls to other users, blind and attended transfers, contact integration and favourites with busy-lamp (presence) monitoring of your colleagues’ lines.

Log in and allow permissions

  1. Install the app and accept the permission requests, including notifications – without them the app will not ring.
  2. Enter your phone number (or extension login number) and your SIP password.
  3. Allow the app to record audio while in use, and to access photos, media and audio so contact integration works.
  4. Open the Contacts tab (second icon) and allow access to your contacts; open the timer tab (third icon) and allow the nearby-devices permission if asked.
  5. Back on the Dialer screen, dial *55 (or tap the voicemail icon) – reaching your voicemail confirms the app is registered.

Favourites with busy-lamp (presence) monitoring

  1. In Contacts tap + and create the contact. Enter the number exactly as it appears in the VoIP portal (digits only, e.g. 09XXXXXXX). For an internal extension use the long Login number from the Line Manager, not the short extension number, or presence will not work. Add a picture if you like, then save.
  2. Open the Favourites screen (star icon), press and hold an empty slot, tap + at the top right and choose the contact.
  3. Check the Number or SIP address field contains digits only – remove any spaces or hyphens.
  4. If the contact is a number or extension on our network, switch on Busy Lamp. Tap the tick to save.

The favourite now shows Off-call, Ringing or On-call. Tapping it dials the contact; to pick up a call ringing on a colleague’s line dial *89 followed by their number. You can set up to 12 favourites.

Attended transfer in the Basic app

  1. During a call tap the + icon in the bottom-right corner – this returns you to the dialler and puts the first caller on hold. Dial the second person.
  2. When the second call connects you will see a Swap button to switch between the calls. To transfer, tap the three dots in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Choose Transfer, then select the party to transfer to. The two parties are connected and the call leaves your phone.
