Each domain on your hosting can run its own PHP version. WordPress and most modern software need PHP 8.1 or newer; very old sites may need an older version.
- In cPanel open Software → MultiPHP Manager.
- Tick the domain, choose the version from the drop-down and click Apply. The change is immediate – check the site still works and switch back if anything breaks.
Memory limit, upload size and other settings
Open Software → MultiPHP INI Editor, choose the domain, and adjust memory_limit, upload_max_filesize, post_max_size and max_execution_time. Typical values for WordPress: memory 256M, uploads 64M, execution time 120.
Error 500 after a PHP change? Switch back to the previous version, or check cPanel → Metrics → Errors for the message.
