“Incorrect password” or the app keeps asking for the password
- The username is the full email address, and the password is the mailbox password set in cPanel – not your cPanel or portal password.
- Reset the mailbox password in cPanel → Email Accounts → Manage, then update it in every app on every device.
- Too many failed logins from one address block that address for a short time – fix the password on every device first, then wait and try again. If you are still blocked, email us your public IP address (search “what is my IP”).
Can receive but cannot send
- Check the outgoing server is
host.ashhost.co.nzon port 465 with SSL/TLS and that outgoing authentication is on with the same username and password. - Some mobile networks and public Wi-Fi block port 25 – never use port 25.
- Sending to many recipients at once can hit the hourly sending limit that protects the server’s reputation – split large mail-outs, or use a newsletter service.
Can send but nothing arrives
- Check the mailbox is not full – cPanel → Email Accounts shows the usage; raise the quota or delete old mail.
- Check Spam/Junk in webmail, and any filters or forwarders set on the address.
- If the domain’s DNS changed recently, mail may still be going to the old server – check the MX records (Nameservers and DNS).
Messages you send go to the recipient’s spam
Make sure SPF and DKIM are set: cPanel → Email → Email Deliverability → Repair next to the domain (if the domain’s DNS is elsewhere, copy the records shown into that DNS). Avoid sending from a free mailbox address with your own domain’s name, and keep mailing lists clean.
Certificate warning
Use host.ashhost.co.nz as the server name rather than mail.yourdomain.co.nz.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] (from another address if yours is down) with the mailbox, the app you use, the exact error message and the time it happened, and we will check the server logs.
