Setting up email in Outlook (Windows and Mac)

New Outlook / Outlook for Microsoft 365

1. Open Settings (gear icon) → Accounts → Email accounts → Add account (classic Outlook: File → Add Account).
2. Enter your full email address, then open Advanced options and tick Let me set up my account manually. Click Continue / Connect.
3. Choose IMAP.
4. Enter the settings:

   Incoming server	host.ashhost.co.nz, port 993, encryption SSL/TLS
   Outgoing server	host.ashhost.co.nz, port 465, encryption SSL/TLS
   Username	Your full email address
   Password	The mailbox password

5. Do not tick Secure Password Authentication (SPA). Click Connect / Next; Outlook tests the connection and finishes.

Older Outlook (2016 / 2019 with manual set-up)

File → Add Account → Manual setup → POP or IMAP. Enter your name, address, incoming and outgoing server host.ashhost.co.nz, username (full address) and password. Click More Settings: on Outgoing Server tick My outgoing server requires authentication – use same settings as incoming; on Advanced set incoming 993 with SSL/TLS (or POP3 995, and tick leave a copy on the server) and outgoing 465 with SSL/TLS.

Outlook for Mac

Outlook → Settings → Accounts → + → New Account → enter the address → choose IMAP and enter the same servers, ports and encryption as above.
