Caller ID and privacy – which number you show when you call

Choose the number displayed when you make calls – your own line, the main business number, or a verified number from another provider – and hide your number when you need to.

Set the outbound caller ID

  1. Log in to the VoIP portal, open the Voice tab and click the number or extension.
  2. From the Outgoing Calls menu choose Caller ID and Privacy.
  3. Choose Present another phone number from my account and pick the number (for example the main office number on every staff extension), or Present a verified off-net number.
  4. To verify a number from another carrier, click verify a new external Caller ID, enter the number with its area code and click Verify. We call that number straight away; answer it and key in the 8-digit PIN shown on screen. Once verified, the number appears in the off-net list.
  5. Optional: force caller ID on all calls, including diverted calls, or enable persistent call privacy to hide your number on every call.
  6. Click Save.

Per-call codes

  • *67 then the number – hide your caller ID for that call.
  • *65 then the number – show your caller ID for that call when privacy is normally on.

Incoming caller ID, call waiting and intercom

From the Incoming Calls menu choose Caller ID, Call Waiting and Intercom to: disable call waiting (second callers hear busy or go to voicemail); add an incoming call identifier – text shown before the caller’s number so staff know which line was dialled; enable intercom so other extensions can talk through your phone’s speaker; or turn on reverse name look-ups. Leave the rest at the defaults unless you have a specific need.
