Huawei Router Settings

Set your Huawei router to DHCP and tag VLAN 10 – the steps and menu names for Huawei firmware.

Before you start

Connect the router's WAN / internet port to the port on your fibre box (ONT) that we activated – it is in your activation email, and it is usually the one with the light on. Then open the router's settings page.

1. Set the internet connection to DHCP

  1. Go to Internet > Internet Settings and edit the Ethernet WAN profile (its name usually contains ETH and a VID).
  2. Tick Enable connection, set Connection type to IP routing (IP) and IPv4 addressing type to DHCP.
  3. Make sure NAT is on and the profile is bound to the Ethernet WAN port.

2. Tag the internet VLAN (VLAN 10)

  1. In the same profile, tick Enable VLAN.
  2. Set VLAN ID 10, 802.1p 0 and MTU 1500.
  3. Save; the router reconnects.

3. Check it works

Give the router a minute, then look at its status page: the WAN or internet section should show an IP address from us. Open a website to confirm. If the WAN stays blank, the VLAN or the DHCP setting has not taken – check both, then restart the router.

Ex-Spark and ex-Vodafone units are often locked to the old provider. If the menus above are missing, factory reset the router; if they are still missing, the unit cannot be used on ASH NET.
