Netgear Router Settings

Set your Netgear router to DHCP and tag VLAN 10 – the steps and menu names for Netgear firmware.

Before you start

Connect the router's WAN / internet port to the port on your fibre box (ONT) that we activated – it is in your activation email, and it is usually the one with the light on. Then open the router's settings page.

1. Set the internet connection to DHCP

  1. Go to Basic > Internet.
  2. Answer No to "Does your Internet connection require a login?".
  3. Set Internet IP Address to Get Dynamically from ISP and Domain Name Server to Get Automatically from ISP, then Apply.

2. Tag the internet VLAN (VLAN 10)

  1. Go to Advanced > Advanced Setup > VLAN / Bridge Settings.
  2. Tick Enable VLAN / Bridge Group, then choose Enable VLAN tag group.
  3. Edit the Internet row: VLAN ID 10, Priority 0, and tick the WAN/Internet port.
  4. Apply; the router restarts.

3. Check it works

Give the router a minute, then look at its status page: the WAN or internet section should show an IP address from us. Open a website to confirm. If the WAN stays blank, the VLAN or the DHCP setting has not taken – check both, then restart the router.

Orbi mesh: set this on the router unit (or in the Orbi app under Settings > Internet Settings); the satellites pick it up automatically. A few Orbi firmware builds have no VLAN section – update the firmware first.
