The settings for the MikroTik hEX router
These are the only settings ASH NET fibre needs. There is no username or password – we stopped using PPPoE in January 2026.

Step by step
1. Connect the MikroTik hEX router to the fibre box
Run an Ethernet cable from the router's WAN / internet port to the activated port on your fibre box (ONT) – the port is named in your activation email and normally has a light beside it. Power the router on and connect a computer or phone to it. If you use a phone, turn mobile data off so it cannot fall back to the mobile network.
2. Open the settings

3. Set the internet connection to DHCP
- Create the tagged interface first (next section), then go to IP > DHCP Client and click +.
- Set Interface to vlan10 (not ether1), tick Use Peer DNS and Add Default Route, then Apply.
If the router asks for a line speed, use 100/20 for Fibre 100, 500/100 for Fibre 500, 920/500 for Fibre 920, or leave it on automatic.
4. Tag the internet VLAN as 10
- Go to Interfaces > VLAN and click +.
- Set Name to vlan10, VLAN ID to 10, Interface to ether1 (the port plugged into the fibre box) and MTU to 1500.
- Add vlan10 to your WAN firewall list and NAT (masquerade) rule, the same way ether1 was used on the default config.
5. Save and reconnect
Apply the settings and give the router a minute or two – most reboot themselves. The status page should then show an internet or WAN IP address from us.
6. Check it works
Open a website, then run a speed test. If the WAN stays blank, go back over steps 3 and 4 – one of the two has not saved – and restart the router.
7. If it still will not connect
Factory reset the MikroTik hEX router (hold the reset pin for about ten seconds with the power on), set it up again from step 2, and make sure you are using the port on the fibre box named in your activation email. Ex-provider routers are sometimes locked and will not show a VLAN page at all.
In terminal: /interface vlan add name=vlan10 vlan-id=10 interface=ether1 then /ip dhcp-client add interface=vlan10 use-peer-dns=yes add-default-route=yes. Remember to move the DHCP client and NAT from ether1 to vlan10.
