Grandstream Router Settings

Set your Grandstream router to DHCP and tag VLAN 10 – the steps and menu names for Grandstream firmware.

Before you start

Connect the router's WAN / internet port to the port on your fibre box (ONT) that we activated – it is in your activation email, and it is usually the one with the light on. Then open the router's settings page.

1. Set the internet connection to DHCP

  1. Go to Network settings > WAN and edit (or add) the WAN entry.
  2. Set the connection type to Obtain IP automatically (DHCP), NAT enabled, DNS from the ISP.

2. Tag the internet VLAN (VLAN 10)

  1. Open Advanced settings on that WAN entry and turn VLAN tag on.
  2. Set VLAN ID 10, VLAN priority 0, and set VLAN port to the physical port plugged into the fibre box.
  3. Save and apply.

3. Check it works

Give the router a minute, then look at its status page: the WAN or internet section should show an IP address from us. Open a website to confirm. If the WAN stays blank, the VLAN or the DHCP setting has not taken – check both, then restart the router.

Grandstream models

A settings page for each Grandstream model we have seen on New Zealand fibre. If yours is not here the steps above still apply – the menus are the same across the brand.

Routers we recommend

These arrive set up for ASH NET – plug them into the fibre box and they work. On a 12-month plan you can rent one for $7.50 a month instead of buying.

Still stuck? Email [email protected] with the router make and model and a photo of the screen, or call 09 269 4000. We can also supply a pre-configured router – see the shop.
